The Cincinnati Bengals linebacker and Maryland native is also a world traveler, and has been since a fairly young age. Baltimore's Got It and Got It Right

Baltimore, Maryland

Baltimore called B-more,Bawl-amore,Charm City,Mob Town,and The Monumental City: Baltimore.

Its home to Harbor Place, the National Aquarium ,Camden Yards, over two hundred and fifty distinct neighborhoods but let's put it on the table Baltimore is the real life basis for The Wire and The Corner. It is also the birthplace of my father so even having spent my summers sitting on marble steps at my grandparents I was prejudiced by the media. Even viewing the city through eyes of childhood nostalgia I saw Baltimore as a once a bright port town now down on its luck. To me Baltimore was cursed as the backdrop to a video diary of America's drug and gang blight. My Dad's old neighborhood was blamed for starting the no snitching mantra.

Having transplanted to the west coast I hadn't visited Baltimore except for funerals and to settle family affairs. But this visit proved I was wrong. Baltimore is greater and stronger than the sum of one of is parts. Baltimore is on the rise once again. Not surprisingly with Barack and Michelle Obama in the Whitehouse there is a nationwide resurgence in Black heritage, culture and pride. …
