Black Life in San Francisco

San Francisco, California

I visited San Francisco on April 4, 2010 in hopes of Rest, Relaxation, and Culture. Because I am a Diversity person, I can blend in any situation, place, and have fun as well as learn. But while in San Francisco, I was shocked to learn there were not any Black Historic Landmarks, Inventions, or Discovery Museums per our tour guide. I also interacted with some of the African American Employees at Pier 39 and the Golden Gate Bridge, who also said, " In the earlier years before the transformation of the tourist area, there had been more." I asked about the "Worship Life," I was also told,"To go over to Oakland, California for a more urban African American Experience." All in all it was a great vacation, the food was great and shopping was nonstop.

“The Bay in 3: Speed Sampling the SF/Bay Area

Below is my San Francisco/Bay Area 3-day immersion experience for the serious road warrior.

DAY ONE: Drive north for about an hour to visit Napa Valley. Be sure to check out some of all of the following places:

• Domaine Chandon champagne company for a champagne tasting and a stroll around their grounds

• Opus one winery has amazing Egyptian style architecture that is faintly reminiscent of Queen Hatshepsut’s temple in Luxor, Egypt. I do not really like their wine and I think that their tastings are quite expensive but they have a wonderfully expansive view of Napa Valley from their 2nd floor terrace.

• Rubicon Estate, Francis Ford Coppola's winery, tasting room, store and movie memorabilia center.

• Dean and Deluca gourmet store has epicurean treats for cooking, eating and entertaining. Their team of international food experts search for the best and newest food products from around the globe.

• Dr. Wilkerson's is located in the heart of historic Calistoga and offers lodging and spa …
